Paint zones on a grid, drop labels and markers, add dungeon layers, and plan your world together — live, in the browser. Built for game studios and tabletop RPG groups who want a fast, shared world map without a heavy editor.

Brush zones onto the grid with an adjustable brush, or drag a rectangle to fill an area.
Add interior layers and link them to an entrance marker — overworld to dungeon in one click.
Define your own zone types, names, and colours per map.
Towns, creatures, treasure, terrain and more — eight categories of icon markers.
Name regions, mark notes, and annotate the map anywhere.
Measure line, path, and area distances in dual units while you design.

Up to 100 steps of undo so you can experiment freely.
Create, rename, duplicate, and delete as many maps as you like.
Export any map to JSON and import it back. PNG export of the current view too.
One shared password gates the whole instance. Your team, your server.
One finger draws, two fingers pan and pinch-zoom. Use it on a tablet.
docker compose up and you're live. No build step, one dependency.
Set your own name, accent colour, and logo in a single config file.
Start with a quick sketch or plan a sprawling continent — the same tool handles both, and stays fast.
The canvas loads just the part of the map under your viewport, so panning and zooming around a huge world stays smooth.
There's no fixed map size. Keep painting outward and the world expands automatically — no setup, no limits to configure.
Because only the visible area syncs and updates are compressed, even a small, cheap server runs large maps with several people editing at once.
A fast, focused canvas — nothing between you and the map.

Get the zip after checkout and unzip it anywhere — Windows, Mac, or Linux.

Not necessarily. It runs fine on a laptop for a local team. For remote teammates, put it on any small always-on machine or VPS behind an HTTPS proxy.

Map Blueprint is built by Fin and Al — the two-person team behind the MMORPG Mortumus. We made it for ourselves: we needed a fast, shared way to sketch and plan the maps in our game without firing up a heavy editor. It worked so well for us that we cleaned it up and made it available to other small teams who just want to prototype maps quickly.
Reach us on Discord — ask questions, get help, or just say hi. We're active and happy to help.
